Yerba Buena Center for the Arts designed by Fumihiko Makio, opened in 1993, the same year this star architect received the prestigious Pritzker Architecture Prize. Dr. Ken Tadashi Oshima will lecture about Maki's design evolution and his unique ability to create public spaces featuring forms that maximize variety in the flow of space and funcution. Betti-Sue Hertz, YBCA's incoming Director of Visual Arts, will introduce the speaker and moderate a conversation between Oshima and the audience …

Participate in Art Savvy during YBCA's new Member Orientation, designed to bring you closer to the art we present. Art Savvy is a groundbreaking hands-on program that will help you deepen your connection with all kinds of contemporary art through Visual Thinking Strategies, one of the most respected art education methods in the country. Tour Bay Area Now 5, receive an overview of contemporary art and enjoy a post-tour discussion and cocktail reception. If you cannot attend the next Orientation on Nov 13 from 6–8:30pm, you are welcome to join us on another date.
